Symbadisch Food and drink
Baden cuisine is closely linked to the regional climate – and characterised by the combination, variation and refinement of various dishes from neighbouring cuisines in Swabia, Alsace, but also Switzerland and of course French cuisine. Baden snail soup, Bibbeleskäs, asparagus, Maultäschle, Schäufele and, of course, Dampfnudel with potato soup are just a few of the typical regional main courses. On the dessert menu you will occasionally read such strange things as Ofenschlupfer (a pastry), Kirschenplotzer (a layer cake) or Striebele (a sweet baked part). But of course, in addition to the good middle-class Baden cuisine, the region’s restaurants also feature many Italian, Greek and Asian eateries.
